Adults refer to animals or humans which have attained their maximum growth and development. Adult is a term applied to humans to mean moral and social concepts. As opposed to "minor" or "non-adult" legally-aged adult is an individual who is a the age of majority. They are considered responsible, independent and capable. It is also possible to view them as a "major". The general consensus is that the age at which a person legally matures is 18. It is possible for this to vary depending on legal rights and countries and also on the psychological state.

The stage of development for humans that is when mental and physical maturity is attained. The term "adulthood" is generally considered to begin at age 20 or 21 years. Following middle age (starting around age 40) then comes the age of old age (around the age of 60). The three major stages of adulthood include early adulthood (from the mid 30s until late 60s), middle adulthood from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood, (mid-60s up to the time of death). It is the time to complete physical development at the point we are in our early adulthood (20-40s) however, the weight and height may increase slightly. In early adulthood the physical capabilities of our bodies reach their highest levels. These include muscle strength and speed of reaction.
